Canadian Expatriates, its contributors, and readers have been invited by Foreign Affairs Canada to participate in a series of eDiscussions. The current topic is “Showcasing Canadian Culture and Know-How Abroad”.

We are asked to consider the following questions:

What role does Canadian culture and know-how play in our foreign policy?

How might the government best promote Canadian talent and expertise in the world?

The eDiscussion runs from April 4 to May 6, 2005. At its conclusion, a summary of the discussion will be sent to senior policy planners.

The Expat admin team encourages its readers to join in the eDiscussion at the Canadian International Policy website.

Hi and all the best wishes for the new year, peace. peosperity, health and happiness.
Thought you might like this, yesterday in northern Germany we awoke to 24cms of snow! This is the first time in yonks!! I got out my trusty shovel and started shovelling away, my neighbour, very prussian and exact, asked me why I was using the shovel backwards.(with the blade facing downwards,I was chipping the ice away as a true Canadian would do, like, we know how to do these things) He muttered something under his breath, like she always does everything differently ( like putting up my Christmas tree before 3pm Christmas Eve). Lo and behold, this morning after a 5 cm snowfall, who was out shovelling with his shovel "backwards", my beloved neighbour, he blushed when he saw me notice and said, " I guess you Canadians do do somethings right!" Happy New Year!

I love your anecdote. When it comes to snow, that is definitely we Canadians know how to do! LOL We certainly have a lot of experience doing it.
