The administration team is currently searching for Canadian expatriates who would be interested in contributing to the Expat Blog. The subject matter is wide open, but must remain family friendly.

It's okay, I'm American and I'm anti-American. All of my recent purchases and gifts have Canadian flags on them. And, it gets worse, I'm a Maple Leafs fan.
I started reading the first line of the comment and thought, "Hey, the anti-American American sounds just like my girlfriend!" And hey, it was! I force her to read Macleans and eat buttertarts and she's totally under my hypnotic Canadian spell.
M&Ms are still way better than Canadian Smarties though. If hockey doesn't come back soon and give me my Tie Domi fix, I'm going to slowly revert back to mostly American. Wait, wait, what am I saying? All I have to do is read our newspapers and listen to our news...I am so Canadian.
I have been trying to coerce the husband into adopting Canadian tendencies, but so far it has been a constant uphill battle. I really do not understand his resistance to the notion. Afterall, who doesn't love a good seal casserole?
He is not a fan of the Leafs. In fact, he is not even missing hockey. He thinks that ketchup chips are "gross" and has no idea how to pronounce the word "touque" (it comes out sounding like toupee!). He also claims that M&M's beat the pants off of Smarties (but we all know how wrong he is in thinking that! ;o) )
Perhaps I should also resort to hypnosis and back issues of Maclean's as the combination seems to produce the desired results! I should also invest in one of those Fox News blockers! :o)
Okay, this is important. News I can't find anywhere else. I'm looking for the expat, Terilyn Joe. She was my favorite newscaster when I lived in San Francisco and she seems to have disappeared. Did she end up back in Canada?
And Smarties have way too much candy coating - M&Ms are about the chocolate, with a light candy coating.
I miss Hockey Night In Canada, especially when the announcer was French-Canadian and would say, "'ockey".
It looks like you are not alone in pining for Terilyn Joe. I found this Yahoo Group set up as a shrine. LOL
I read one of the messages on the group and it seems like someone even resorted to an email campaign to try to track her down, but was unsuccessful. That was back in December of 2003.
The husband says that there is too much candy coating on Smarties as well. My problem with M&M's is that dish soapy tasting Hershey's chocolate that is in them. That just does not appeal to me at all. I also like the brighter colours of Smarties and off course the song that goes with them!
When you eat your Smarties, Do you eat the red ones last? Do you suck them very slowly, Or crunch them very fast? Eat that candy-coated chocolate, But tell me when I ask, When you eat your Smarties, Do you eat the red ones last?
I miss Hockey Night in Canada too, especially Don Cherry's snazzy suits!
