What does Mulroney think of the new tell-all book?

And to think that this book has come out just in time for a certain someone's birthday! What better way to celebrate than by reading about the dirt on Parliament Hill! :p
I have never been a fan of Mr. Mulroneys. I do feel he is quite arrogant. What I don't like is the way the material for the book was obtained.

Kim Campbell was on "Real Time with Bill Maher" a few months ago (May 6, 2005 to be exact), and she was fabulous. Told jokes, had a sense of humour, i.e. acted nothing like a politician.

LMAO at "journalist-as-vulture". Is it really a stereotype when it is true? :p
I must say that Newman, being a friend of Mulroney's for 40 years, was privy to much more than the standard fare. Certainly Mulroney spoke to him as a friend first, and an as interviewee second. I imagine that the book comes as quite a betrayal.

Not sure what to say to that. LOL Mulroney certainly was Captain of a sinking ship and rather than going down with the rest of the party, he chose to jump. Campbell never stood a chance. Wasn't that the election that saw the Progressive Conservative species become nearly extinct when it dwindled down to a single breeding pair?

I wish that I would have had an opportunity to see that. I thought that Campbell's response to Mulroney was very well done. This book is going to put plenty of people into a difficult position by the sound of it.

I am looking forward to reading the book as well. It will be interesting to view events from a "behind the scenes" perspective. Part of me sees the book as the stuff that trashy tabloids are made of though! LOL

ReplyDeleteGoodness! The very thought of Elsie Wayne and (now Liberal Premier of Quebec) Jean Charest as a "breeding pair" just put me off my dinner.
Ms. Campbell was easily the worst PM ever. During the election campaign, she refused to take briefings from her advisors. And she approved this idiotic ad campaign mocking Mr. Chretien's speech impediment caused by a childhood illness.
Going into the election, the PCs were ahead in the polls. With her leadership, they sank into oblivion.
