The administration team is currently searching for Canadian expatriates who would be interested in contributing to the Expat Blog. The subject matter is wide open, but must remain family friendly.

I believe the Canadians he refers to are actually not "Mounties" but that Vancouver Search and Rescue team that went in (I was under the impression that they were Vancouver PD, or FD Vancouver, not RCMP). Not that it matters, of course (and I'm certainly not ragging on a guy who just went through Katrina for possibly getting his Canadian agencies mixed up, I'm just curious...)
Can anyone say FOR CERTAIN, if the team he is referring to is that Vancouver heavy urban rescue team? And, if so, are they actually Mounties, or are they with another organization?
Ed had posted this news story last week, Canadian Beat US Army to New Orleans Suburb. The article states that the Vancouver based search and rescue team were the first to make it to St.Bernard Parish. The second story is also out of St.Bernard Parish.
If I were to make a guess, I would say that it was the same Vancouver based search and rescue team. I am not aware if that team is made up of Mounties or not.
